Ivan Harkov became European Sambo Champion in Georgia

Bulgarian athletes won a full medal haul on the first day of the European Sambo and Combat Sambo Championships in Tbilisi (Georgia).

The 2023 world champion Ivan Harkov became the European champion in the 79 kg category after four consecutive victories. In the final, he defeated Georgios Markarian (Greece).

Harkov has two bronze medals from the European Championships in 2024 and 2025.

In the women's event, Iva Ivanova won silver in the 59 kg category, after losing to Yana Dzhumaeva (Russia) in the title fight.

Daniel Dinev won the bronze medal in the 98 kg category.

The European Sambo Championships end on Sunday.
