On December 5 in Varna, Bulgaria, during the “Golden Belt” 2025 ceremony, the annual awards of the National Association of Combat Sports in Bulgaria were presented. The Bulgarian Shotokan Karate-Do Federation announced its most successful athletes of the past year.
The highest distinction in the men’s category — “Best Athlete 2025” — was awarded to Valentin Georgiev, a gold medalist at the 32nd Shotokan Karate-Do World Championship (SKDUN) in Bydgoszcz, Poland. With his victory in the Kumite -70 kg, Shobu Ippon division, he demonstrated exceptional technique, speed, and discipline, earning him the title of World Champion 2025.
In the women’s category, the “Best Athlete 2025” award was presented to Denitsa Kabadzhieva, who won a gold medal at the 32nd Shotokan Karate-Do World Championship (SKDUN) in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Her title in the Kumite -58 kg, Sanbon Ippon division, achieved after convincing victories over opponents from several continents, established her as one of the leading competitors in world Shotokan karate.
In the “Best Coach 2025” category, Dimitar Todoranov, national selector and head coach of the men’s national Kumite team, was honored. Under his guidance, the Bulgarian team achieved an impressive total of 25 medals — 7 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze — at the SKDUN World Championship 2025, demonstrating excellent preparation, strong motivation, and outstanding team spirit.
