"The gold medals, the silver medals, the successes of our young judokas in general show great progress," said the president of the federation, Rumen Stoilov, on BNT after the European Cup in Sofia. "This is an extraordinary achievement based on the last, perhaps, 50 years since this tournament was held."

At the competition, which was the first of the season, Bulgaria won 3 titles, a silver and three bronze medals, in the competition of nearly 400 competitors from 39 countries. Two came in fifth, and two others came in seventh.

"The very fact that the president of the European Judo Union, Laszlo Toth, is here, as well as the entire leadership of European Judo - everyone gives not a positive, but an excellent assessment," he continued.

And he specified that Ivaylo Ivanov, who missed the tournament in Sofia due to an old injury, will only participate in the training camp in Paris. And his big goal this season is the European Championship in Georgia in April.

At the Grand Slam in the French capital this weekend, Bulgaria will be represented by 4 competitors - Boyan Yotov (66), who came second in Sofia, Mark Hristov (73) and Viktor Skerlev (73), champion in Sofia, as well as Georgi Gramatikov (81).
