Fury: I want to smash Joshua

Heavyweight Boxing - Fury vs Usyk

Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) is determined to make the most of 2026.

The 37-year-old boxer is set to return on April 11 against Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs). According to Fury, after he “smashes” Makhmudov, his goal is to reclaim a world title before the end of the year.

And it doesn’t necessarily have to come in a trilogy with the undefeated Oleksandr Usyk. Speaking to FurociTV, Fury outlined what his ideal year would look like.

“My ideal year would be to smash Makhmudov to pieces first, then smash Anthony Joshua to pieces, and finally win a world title at the end of the year—whether that’s against Usyk or against the winner of Dubois vs. Wardley,” the Brit said.

“That would be a good year, after which I’d retire again,” he added. “Take another two years off, come back at 40 and do it all over again, and so on. Whenever boxing dies again, I’ll come back, bring it back to life, and bring the biggest television network in the world with me. Let’s go—2026, here we come. Big year.”

Meanwhile, David Allen suggested that it might be safer for Fury to face Usyk.
