In Detroit, undisputed heavyweight world champion Claressa Shields recorded another convincing victory, defeating former undisputed super middleweight world champion Franchón Crews-Dezurn by unanimous decision to make the second defense of her title.
It was a rematch of their professional debut in 2016, when Shields won by the same result. Once again, the American dominated from start to finish, winning every round and earning a clear 100–90 decision on the judges’ scorecards.
Challenges on the scale before the fight led to a brief clash between fans and members of the two teams, but after the bout both sides settled their differences and confirmed that the hostility had been resolved.
The 30-year-old Shields is a two-time Olympic boxing champion, an undisputed world champion in three weight classes, and remains undefeated in 18 professional fights, cementing her place among the greats of women’s boxing.
