Naoya Inoue and Junto Nakatani will face each other on May 2 at Tokyo Dome in what is being billed as the biggest all-Japanese boxing match in history. The undisputed champion will put his The Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO super bantamweight titles on the line against his also undefeated compatriot.
Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) enters the fight after an extremely active 2025, during which he recorded four victories — over Kim Ye-joon, Ramon Cardenas, Murodjon Akhmadaliev, and Alan Picasso.
On the same card in December, Nakatani (32-0, 24 KOs) made his debut at super bantamweight at The Ring V: Night of the Samurai, where he defeated Sebastian Hernandez by a controversial unanimous decision.
Both Japanese stars are ranked among the elite in The Ring pound-for-pound list — Inoue is No. 2, while Nakatani sits in seventh place.
More details are expected from Mike Coppinger for The Ring, while the show Inside The Ring continues to air live every Monday on DAZN, featuring interviews, analysis, and the latest news from the boxing world. Portions of each episode will also be uploaded to the outlet’s YouTube channel after the live broadcast.
