Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs) plans to fight three more times before announcing his retirement.
The 39-year-old champion will return to the ring on May 23 in Giza, Egypt, against kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven. In an interview with The Ring, Usyk said that this will be the first of three planned farewell bouts.
“Listen. Rico is the first fight,” Usyk explained. “The second is against the winner of the WBO title fight between Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois. And the third is with my friend, ‘The Greedy Belly,’ Tyson Fury.”
