Wilder: Usyk is afraid of me

Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (24–0, 15 KOs) did not hide his plans to fight former American champion Deontay Wilder (44–4–1, 43 KOs).

However, the negotiations dragged on, and Wilder eventually signed a contract to fight Dereck Chisora on April 4.

Deontay also planned to return to discussions about a potential bout with Usyk if he managed to defeat Chisora successfully.

Recently, however, Oleksandr announced his plan for the remainder of his career, which no longer includes the American.

Deontay suspects that fear is the real reason, insisting that it does not mean anything to him.

“Deontay Wilder isn’t on Usyk’s list? Wow. Most of the time when people see me face to face, they get scared or something like that,” Wilder said. “But we’ll see. If it doesn’t happen, it won’t ruin my plans. I’m still here whether he’s here or not. I’m not here because of these guys in the division; I’m here because of my purpose and what I want to achieve in life and in this business.”
