Fury–Joshua fight agreed, but not yet signed

The long-awaited showdown between former heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has reportedly been agreed in principle. The claim was recently made by boxing insider Gareth A. Davies. However, the contracts have not yet been signed.

Can that really happen — and what exactly does it mean? Derek Chisora offered his take on the situation.

“People need to understand one simple thing. A fight does not have to be fully finalized at this stage. If two fighters genuinely want to face each other, it will happen. Anthony just needs time to recover first. Once he has recovered, then they will fight,” Chisora said.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, insists the bout is not yet finalized.

“Joshua does not need Eddie for these kinds of decisions. AJ is his own boss. He respects Eddie and Matchroom, of course. So when he is ready to fight, he will call them and say, ‘I’m ready. Make the fight.’ I believe we will see this fight before the end of the year,” Chisora predicted.
