Bivol’s coach talks about a famous trilogy with Beterbiev

Gennady Mashyanov, trainer of light heavyweight world champion Dmitry Bivol, spoke about the plans of one of boxing’s biggest stars.

“Of course, a third fight with Beterbiev is in the plans. We will not look past our opponent. If God allows it, we will consider other options as well. There are not many – Artur Beterbiev and David Benavidez,” Mashyanov said.

On May 30, Bivol will defend his WBA, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight titles in Yekaterinburg against Germany’s Michael Eifert.

It is worth remembering that Bivol and Beterbiev have already fought two extremely close battles. Beterbiev won the first, while Bivol took the second. Those are also the only defeats in the careers of both fighters.

The eventual winner of a third clash would likely face another major star – Benavidez – which is the dream scenario for boxing fans everywhere.
