Verhoeven: One Clean Shot and Usyk Will Go Down

Kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven is confident that his power will be a decisive factor in his upcoming bout against Oleksandr Usyk on May 23 in Egypt.

The Dutch fighter believes the size difference between them will play a key role:

“When I land my best shot, of course he will go down. The difference is around 20 kilograms. He’s like an upgraded light heavyweight, and I’m a natural heavyweight. That’s a big difference,” Verhoeven said.

The 37-year-old stands at 196 cm and typically competes at around 122 kg, giving him a significant physical advantage.

Usyk, on the other hand, is 39 years old, stands at 191 cm, and has weighed around 102 kg in his recent fights—including victories over Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois.

The matchup presents a classic clash of technique versus power, and it remains to be seen whether size will prevail over the Ukrainian champion’s skill.
