Former British light-heavyweight champion Tony Bellew shared his opinion on why Tyson Fury (35-2-1, 24 KOs) is so eager to fight Anthony Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs).
As a reminder, the Gypsy King called out Joshua immediately after his victorious return on April 11, but Joshua did not show much respect for his words by immediately saying “yes.”
Bellew believes Fury is motivated by financial gain.
“Everyone forgets that some fighters in this country need opponents in order to sell fights,” Bellew noted. “And this is not an attempt to put Tyson Fury down, because I think he’s incredible. What he does is brilliant. But it’s clear that Tyson Fury needs an opponent to sell fights. Anthony Joshua could fight a garbage collector and still sell the fight. Simply because he knows how to do it,” Bellew added.
