Jake Paul commented on the possibility of a sparring session or even a boxing match with two-division UFC champion Ilia Topuria, saying he does not see any serious threat to himself in such a matchup.
Topuria has repeatedly expressed interest in testing himself in professional boxing and recently even accepted a public sparring challenge from Paul during a livestream with Adin Ross.
The American, however, responded calmly and downplayed the potential fight.
“They have to say these things publicly, but when it comes time for action, nothing happens. We’ll see. I respect him, but a boxing match with me would just be a warm-up,” Paul told Complex News.
He did admit, however, that under MMA rules Topuria would likely have the advantage.
“In MMA, he would probably beat me. But in boxing, it’s a different story,” the American added.
Paul also highlighted the size difference between the two, noting that Topuria competes at around 70 kg in the UFC, while he himself fights in heavier weight classes.
“People are way too confident. But let’s be honest—he’s small for me. Even if we were the same height and weight, I still think I’d beat him,” Paul concluded.
