Daniel Dubois Confident Ahead of Wardley Fight: I Will Win Back My World Title

Former champion believes experience against Usyk and Joshua will give him the edge on May 9 in Manchester

Daniel Dubois Confident Ahead of Wardley Fight: I Will Win Back My World Title

Former heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois is convinced he has the necessary qualities to defeat Fabio Wardley and climb back to the top of the division.

The 28-year-old Brit will face WBO champion Fabio Wardley on May 9 in Manchester in a fight that could prove crucial for the future of the heavyweight division.

Dubois already has significantly more experience in top-level fights, including two bouts against Oleksandr Usyk and a clash with Anthony Joshua, which he believes gives him a major advantage.

“Usyk is a southpaw and a great champion. Fabio is nothing like him,” Dubois said. “I’ve got enough experience now. I’ve boxed Usyk twice, I’ve fought Joshua. I’ve faced the best, and that has made me better.”

The Brit made no secret of his confidence that he will hand Wardley his first professional defeat.

“He’s had luck so far. I’ll be the man to give him his first loss,” Dubois said. “He’s unconventional and has surprised a lot of people, but I know what to expect. I’ll work behind the jab, find my rhythm, and I’ll have all the answers.”

Dubois returns after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in a fight for the undisputed heavyweight title, but appears far from discouraged.

“I feel like the luckiest guy in boxing. I keep getting one big fight after another,” he shared. “I’m grateful to Frank Warren, my father, and everyone who helped me stay at this level.”

A victory over Wardley would put Dubois directly back into the conversation for the biggest heavyweight fights and potentially another world title opportunity.
