Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) may have two losses to Oleksandr Usyk on his record, but according to his camp, those defeats do not tell the full story about his level.
Ahead of the fight with undefeated Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs), trainer Don Charles made it clear — this time “Dynamite” is facing a completely different opponent, and he believes Dubois’ experience and power will make the difference.
Current WBO titleholder Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) and Dubois are set to fight tomorrow in Manchester.
“Usyk is a southpaw, and most fighters don’t look good against southpaws like Usyk,” the trainer emphasized. “There’s a huge difference in who we lost to and the level at which it happened. Fabio is not a southpaw. Daniel has no problem against most orthodox fighters. He has knocked out three opponents in a row. And if you take away Fabio’s power, all of them were much better fighters than Fabio.”
Charles also stressed that Wardley “is a very, very tough man.”
“He can turn a fight around with his character. But Fabio has never faced someone like Daniel. Now he’s going up against an opponent who punches just as hard, if not harder, and who also has solid experience. Fabio learned on the job, and I respect that. But Daniel’s path in boxing has been completely different — and that will be the deciding factor on fight night. Dubois is the more experienced boxer. I’ve looked at this fight from every angle, and I believe Daniel will win.”
