Daniel Dubois is once again a world champion. The former IBF titleholder produced a remarkable victory over Fabio Wardley at a boxing gala in Manchester, winning by 11th-round technical knockout to claim the WBO heavyweight title.
The fight started disastrously for Dubois, who was dropped in the opening round and then again in the third after heavy shots from Wardley. Despite the shaky beginning, the 27-year-old Brit showed resilience and gradually took control of the contest.
From the middle rounds onward, Dubois began imposing his rhythm with a sharp jab and powerful right hands that repeatedly shook the champion. Wardley started to slow noticeably, with visible damage accumulating on his face under sustained pressure.
By the tenth round, the champion looked exhausted and was struggling to stay on his feet. Although he survived into the 11th round, another relentless series of punches from Dubois forced the referee to step in and stop the fight.
Dubois secured an 11th-round TKO victory and added another world title to his collection, reaffirming his status as one of the most dangerous figures in the heavyweight division.
