Stan Dubois, father and trainer of WBO heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, does not believe a third fight against Oleksandr Usyk is the right move for his son’s career.
According to him, there is little logic in Daniel facing the Ukrainian again after already losing to him twice — in 2023 and 2025 — with both defeats coming by stoppage.
“I don’t see the point in fighting Usyk again. Daniel would be better off targeting another British boxer or someone like Moses Itauma,” Stan Dubois told talkSPORT.
He also emphasized that his son has difficulties against southpaws and believes he should not take another fight with Usyk until gaining more experience against that style.
“He’s not that good against southpaws, so I wouldn’t advise him to fight Usyk until he’s had at least one more bout against that type of opponent,” he added.
Dubois Sr. also commented on a possible rematch with Fabio Wardley, saying he is confident his son would look even better next time.
“He was nervous because of the previous knockout loss, but he got through it. Next time he’ll be much stronger and will destroy Wardley,” Stan Dubois added.
