Hearn: Fury vs Joshua Could Collapse After One Upset in Tune-Up Fights

Promoter warns that a single loss ahead of the mega-fight could derail the long-awaited heavyweight showdown

Hearn: Fury vs Joshua Could Collapse After One Upset in Tune-Up Fights

The long-anticipated super fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could fall apart entirely if either man suffers a defeat in their upcoming tune-up bouts, according to Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn.

The 36-year-old Anthony Joshua is set to return to the ring on July 25 in Saudi Arabia against relatively unknown fighter Kristian Prenga. Meanwhile, 37-year-old Tyson Fury is also expected to have another fight this summer, with both heavyweights targeting mandatory victories ahead of a potential clash.

“In my opinion, if either of them loses, the fight won’t happen,” Hearn told Sky Sports. He stressed that preparations for the summer bouts are critical for both sides, as the outcome could determine whether the mega-fight materializes.

According to Hearn, both camps are carefully selecting their interim opponents after preliminary agreements were reached for a Fury vs Joshua showdown, with involvement from Turki Alalshikh.

Despite the commercial appeal, Hearn warned that the risk remains significant: “This fight would sell out any stadium in the world. But everything depends on how they perform in the summer.”
