Usyk’s next opponent announced

The 39-year-old undefeated Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBA, WBC, IBF, and IBO heavyweight titles, spoke about his victory over former Glory champion Rico Verhoeven of the Netherlands in a title fight at a major boxing event in Egypt. Usyk won via stoppage in the 11th round to retain his WBC belt.

“Egypt, hello everyone. Thank you all. This means a lot to me. Thank you, Turki, thank you, Rico, thank you to your team. My team, I love you, you are the best. My wife, I love you, you are my life, you are my heart. This fight was tough. Rico prepared very well. It was a good fight. This is just boxing, you understand? My uppercut. And bam, bam, bam. Thank you, God,” Usyk said after the fight.

Usyk now has 25 victories in his professional career, 16 of them by knockout. He also remains undefeated.

Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, proposed the next opponent for the undefeated heavyweight champion.

After the fight, Al-Sheikh said: “We want to see Usyk fight Kabayel. And a rematch with Verhoeven.” Usyk replied: “Turki, if you organize it, I’m ready!”.
