Beterbiev Pushes for Bivol Trilogy: That’s the Fight I Want

The former undisputed champion believes he will perform even better in a third bout and claims Dmitry Bivol is avoiding the matchup

Former undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev has made it clear that a third fight with Dmitry Bivol remains his top priority.

“I want the third fight. I think everyone wants to see it. I feel good, and if it happens, I’ll show the very best version of myself,” the 41-year-old Russian told Inside The Ring.

The rivalry between the two has become one of the most compelling in modern boxing. In October 2024, Beterbiev defeated Bivol by decision to become the undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world. Four months later, however, Bivol avenged the loss, reclaiming the titles after another razor-close contest that went the distance.

Beterbiev believes he delivered a stronger performance in the rematch than he did in their first encounter and is convinced he would be even better in a potential trilogy bout.

“I’m certain the third fight will happen, and I’ll perform better than I did in the first two. I need about five or six months to prepare, but he doesn’t want to fight,” the veteran said.

The Russian also confirmed his interest in a potential showdown with reigning light heavyweight champion David Benavidez but stressed that his focus remains firmly on settling the score with Bivol.

“I respect everything Benavidez has accomplished. I would fight him or anyone else, but first I want the third fight with Bivol,” Beterbiev added.

With both fighters holding a victory over one another, anticipation continues to grow around what could become one of boxing’s most anticipated trilogy matchups. The coming months are expected to determine whether the rivalry will finally get its decisive chapter.
