Jaron Ennis Conquers Second Weight Class with Knockout Victory Over Xander Zayas

Jaron Ennis is now a two-division world champion. The 29-year-old American defeated Xander Zayas via seventh-round technical knockout in the main event of a boxing card in New York, capturing the WBA and WBO junior middleweight world titles.

Ennis came out aggressively and dropped the defending champion in the opening round. Zayas managed to regain his footing in the third, but the American quickly reasserted control and began dictating the pace of the fight.

The Puerto Rican was knocked down again in the fifth round and barely survived to hear the bell. After being cleared by the ringside physician, Zayas was allowed to continue, but Ennis scored another knockdown in the seventh, prompting the referee to wave off the contest.

Following the victory, Ennis said he is ready for major unification fights against WBC champion Sebastian Fundora or IBF titleholder Josh Kelly, while also expressing interest in a potential showdown with Vergil Ortiz Jr.

The event also featured several notable performances. Emiliano Vargas stopped Bryce Mills with a fourth-round knockout, while British light heavyweight Ben Whittaker defeated Richard Rivera via second-round stoppage to successfully defend his WBC Silver title.
