Eddie Hearn Blocks U.S. Move for Fury vs Joshua Fight

Matchroom Boxing chairman Eddie Hearn has firmly rejected rumors that the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is moving to New York City. Speaking in an explosive interview with Seconds Out, Hearn revealed that the original, signed contract legally mandates the fight take place on United Kingdom soil. He emphasized that both Fury and Joshua previously agreed to London, noting that the entire essence of the historic matchup is built around a massive UK homecoming event.

While Hearn reassures fans that the fight itself is legally bound to happen because both boxers signed the paperwork, a venue dispute is actively delaying an official announcement. Hearn speculates that broadcast partner Netflix and overseas powerbrokers believe moving the event to Madison Square Garden would create a more massive global impact due to prime U.S. viewing hours and New York’s commercial power. However, Hearn insists the other side must honor the existing contract and keep the fight in Great Britain.

Furthermore, Hearn completely dismissed claims made by UFC CEO Dana White, who recently stated he would step in to promote and structure the fighter contracts. Hearn clarified that parent company TKO Group Holdings actually reached out to Matchroom directly to help facilitate the deal, rather than White controlling the terms. Until the original UK agreement is fully respected, Hearn maintains that no official announcement is imminent.
