Moses Itauma has shared an encouraging video message on his Instagram Page following the first defeat of his professional boxing career. The 21-year-old British prospect faced veteran Filip Hrgovic at London’s O2 Arena for the vacant IBF world heavyweight title, but his team threw in the towel during the ninth round.

Itauma dominated the early portion of the bout, even knocking Hrgovic down in the second round. However, after pushing a relentless pace to find a knockout, the young fighter completely ran out of energy. He left the ring on a stretcher due to extreme exhaustion and a minor leg injury, spending the night in a hospital for precautionary medical checks.

After being discharged, a humble Itauma refused to make excuses for the loss. He congratulated Hrgovic on becoming Croatia's first-ever heavyweight champion and admitted he simply fell short against a much more experienced opponent. Itauma thanked his promoters at Queensberry Promotions and the fans inside the arena for the electric atmosphere. He closed his statement by promising supporters that he will use this painful ring experience to correct his mistakes and secure a dominant comeback in the future.
