Dana White had to jump in and separate Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn during a wild pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas. The two boxing stars almost got into a real fight before their huge WBC welterweight championship match.
The event took a weird turn when security guards had to stop a prank by Garcia. The champion tried to bring a real egg to the face-off to mock Benn's past food and drug testing drama. Security caught him and took the egg away before the fighters got close. Garcia just laughed and told the guards, “You caught me.”
Even without the egg, the face-off was very intense. Garcia did not stop talking trash, getting right into Benn's face. Benn responded by putting a finger to his lips to tell Garcia to shut up. The shouting got so bad that White decided he had seen enough. He quickly pushed his way between the two boxers to make sure no punches were thrown early.
The biggest story of the week is still Benn’s brutal weight cut. The British fighter has been on a strict diet for 15 weeks to get down to the 147-pound limit. He has not fought at this weight in over four years. Benn promised fans he will make the weight easily and look great. However, Garcia kept laughing at him, yelling that Benn is lying and still weighs over 150 pounds.
