Share on FacebookIn an interesting encounter backstage in the days before his high-stakes victory over Conor Benn, WBC champion Ryan Garcia was stopped in the arena corridor by 10-year-old viral combat sports interviewer Nawid Yosufi (@nawid_yosufi15). Walking through the hallway, the superstar paused to deliver aggressive warnings to the division's top names.
When asked about a potential blockbuster bout against Shakur Stevenson, Garcia immediately questioned his rival's true intentions. "Deep inside, he doesn't want to fight me," Garcia claimed. He escalated the rhetoric by adding that if the matchup ever happens, he plans to "break his ribs" in the ring. Garcia made it clear that fellow star Devin Haney "can also get it" if they cross paths again.
Despite his fierce words, Garcia highlighted the stark contrast in his personality. He noted that while "King Ryan" is absolutely ferocious inside the squared circle, he remains a genuinely nice guy outside of it.
Apart from that, Garcia passed along vital advice to Yosufi and other young athletes. He urged the upcoming generation of boxers to master the art of being entertainers to build their brands, but stressed they must always maintain a ferocious, killer instinct the moment they step into the ring.
