The highly anticipated British heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is staying close to home. Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that Joshua completely rejected a massive financial offer to move the mega-fight to the United States, choosing instead to honor their original contract for a U.K. event.
Hearn directed heavy criticism toward UFC CEO Dana White, accusing him of interfering in a bout he has no business with. According to Hearn, White and corporate allies tried to redirect the event to America by offering Joshua millions more in prize money. However, Joshua refused to "sell out," prioritizing his British fans and his contract over extra profit.
While rumors point to Cardiff's Principality Stadium or London's Wembley Stadium as potential venues, an official date remains unconfirmed. Hearn noted that negotiations with Netflix and Sela are progressing well, with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh expected to make the final announcement soon. Hearn believes keeping the fight local will create the biggest sporting event in British history.
