Henry Cejudo picked up a victory in his professional boxing debut. The former two-division UFC champion defeated Javon “Wanna” Walton by decision after four rounds at the Misfits event in Miami.
Walton started confidently, using his size and distance to keep Cejudo at range. The Olympic wrestling champion gradually found the right timing, however, and began landing heavy hooks while avoiding his young opponent’s punches.
The fight remained competitive until the final bell. Two of the three judges awarded Cejudo three of the four rounds, while the third judge scored the fight the same way in Walton’s favor.
After the fight, Cejudo admitted that the bout was competitive and said he would accept a rematch if Walton gets a full training camp.
“Triple C” also took the opportunity to send a message to his originally scheduled opponent, Dean Great, who withdrew from the fight.
“Dean the Duck, where you at? There’s no Dean the Great. This dude pulled out,” Cejudo said after the victory.
