Dana White has confirmed he will miss the opening press conference for the Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua boxing match in London on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters late Tuesday night, the UFC CEO explained that his duties hosting his weekly talent show in Las Vegas kept him from traveling across the Atlantic. White made it clear that his personal work schedule was the only thing holding him back.
The announcement directly shuts down heavy media speculation that Eddie Hearn had banned White from attending the event. Rumors had been spreading that the UFC boss was legally or contractually prohibited from being part of the official fight promotion. White completely dismissed these claims by stating he would have been at the London launch if he did not have to run the Contender Series.
The massive heavyweight boxing match between Fury and Joshua is currently scheduled to take place on December 11 in Cardiff. Despite the ongoing arguments with overseas promoters, White still expects to be a major part of the event. Even though he will miss the initial media launch, the UFC boss plans to travel to the United Kingdom later this winter for the fight.
