Anthony Joshua admits he had health issues prrior to June 1 fight

The newly crowned unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (23-1) will surely breath easier these days following his dominant UD win over Andy Ruiz Jr. (33-2).

The Brit got his belts back this past weekend in Saudi Arabia, delivering a cold revenge on his adversary. The Mexican-American shocked the world half a year ago, when he dropped Joshua 4 times to the canvas.

Immediately a lot of people said something was wrong with the Brit, but he stated numerous times that Ruiz got him fair and square.

Until now.

The 30-year-old champ has finally admitted that he was dealing with health issues that he couldn't get rid of.

"I had some issue with my health which I was going through for a long time,” said Joshua after judges scored the ‘Clash on the Dunes’ 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109 in favor of him.

“I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I felt so tired and drained and thought it must be down to training. In the changing room before the fight in New York, I got a bucket of ice and was putting my head in it thinking ‘why do I feel so tired?’

“Even in this camp I had an operation done but as I’d started training in June I had no issues.”

Joshua did not elaborate on the nature of the operation.
