Briedis - Dorticos set for September

The final of the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament will take place this month.

Latvia's Mairis Briedis will be facing the IBF champion Yuniel Dorticos from Cuba on September 26 in Munchen.

It's been more than a year since the pair booked their place in the final. The last time they were both seen inside the ropes was in June 2019, when they won their semifinal fights.

Briedis, 35, defeated Krzysztof Glowacki in one of the most controversial manners in the history of boxing. The Latvian landed an elbow to the face but the referee didn't deduct him a point and the Polish fighter got knocked out.

Dorticos, 34, beat unbeaten Andrew Tabiti in the 10th round securing the IBF belt and a chance to grab the Muhammed Ali trophy.

The coronavirus pandemic, of course, postponed the event few times, but now the fight will take place without fans in a TV studio.
