Andrei Chekhonin scores Knockout of the Night at SENSHI 8

Russia’s Andrei Chekhonin is still undefeated under the SENSHI fight night banner. The low kick master defeated Portugal’s Ricardo Fernandes in the penultimate clash of the SENSHI 8 fight card.

The event was held at Hotel “Marinela” in Sofia, Bulgaria, on May 22.

Chekhonin captured the victory via TKO in the opening round. The bout was conducted under the KWU Full Contact in the -85 kg category. Kickboxing legend Semmy Schilt was the special guest referee of the fight.

The European and World WAKO and WAKO PRO champion and 2015 Tatneft Cup silver medalist stormed right out the gate and wasted no time in directing Fernandes’ defense.

The Russian landed some brutal low kicks – his most notable weapon. Chekhonin was calm and collected and his attacks were well-timed, always leaving a nasty mark on the body of the Portuguese.

It all ended when Chekhonin landed a beautiful boxing combo followed by another successful body kick that didn’t allow Fernandes to beat the count.

SENSHI 8 is being conducted with the assistance of the KWU International Professional League, chaired by Shihan Ivo Kamenov, as well as with the special support of Armeec Insurance JSC, MAX Sport, Bulgaria AIR and BMW-M car.
