Ayk Danielyan defeated Gegam Manavazian in the opening bout of SENSHI 9

The ninth edition of the international fight night SENSHI started with an interesting matchup between representatives of the Russian and Armenian karate school. Gegam Manavazian from Armenia fought the Russian representative Ayk Danielyan for the European title under 70 kilograms.

This was the first final from the First SENSHI European open under the rules of KWU SENSHI. Danielyan managed to get the victory after three very close rounds and despite the fact that his opponent started off stronger.

Тhe Armenian was the more active fighter in the first round and landed better knees in the clinch. His boxing combinations served him well also, however, it seemed that those attacks took a toll on his body and he slowed down a little bit in the second round. Nevertheless, he still started strong the round and landed a couple of nice hooks and takedowns.

The fighters were getting more and more exhausted and it seemed like the third round will be the decisive one.

Danielyan took off more aggressively in the third and landed a couple of nice shots in close distance. The Armenian was switching guards which confused his opponent a bit. Despite that, Ayk was more active and worked more outside of the clinch and landed two high kicks to win the decision in the judges’ eyes.

The 1st European Open SENSHI championship and SENSHI 9 will take place during the 15-th KWU International Summer Kyokushin Camp which starts on 4th of July and will gather all the kyokyshin elite in one place.
