On December 5 in Varna, Bulgaria, during the “Golden Belt” 2025 ceremony, the annual awards of the National Association of Combat Sports in Bulgaria were presented. The Bulgarian Aikido Federation announced its most distinguished representatives of the past year.
The award “Commitment to Tradition and Preservation of the History of Aikido in Bulgaria” was presented to Sensei Plamen Yurukov, President of the Bulgarian Aikido Federation and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Combat Sports.
In 2025, Sensei Yurukov marks his 40th anniversary in Aikido—a period defined by tireless dedication, consistent development, and a significant contribution to martial arts in Bulgaria. His work includes conducting interviews dedicated to preserving the history of Aikido in Bulgaria, thereby contributing to the safeguarding of this art’s cultural heritage.
In his activities, Sensei Yurukov follows the path of the samurai, dedicating his efforts to uniting the Aikido community in Bulgaria.
