Flying start of the KWU International Professional League Camp in Varna

The first two training sessions of the three-days camp of the International Professional League of KWU in Varna are in the books! Some of the best local and foreign kyokushin fighters and kickboxers gathered in the beautiful SENSHI GYM to train together under the guidance of elite instructors crew.

The fighters were mentored by the K-1 legends Semmy Schilt, Peter Aerts, Ernesto Hoost and the kyokushin masters Shihan Aleksandr Pichkunov and the multiple time international champion Jan Sokoup. The instructors selected their groups and the training session started exactly at 09:00 AM. At 02:00 PM they switched their groups and started the second session.

The 4x K-1 Heavyweight champ Semmy Schilt engaged with the instructors group in the motning. He “warmed” them up good with some heavy conditioning with bodyweight exercises. After this he focused on showing mid-range and long-range combinations drills and showcased some concepts on how to be a better sparring partner and better instructor.  In the afternoon he took on the pro fighters group. In a shorter, but more intese practice Semmy took the breath away from the fighters with conditioning and drills. Some of the most renowned Bulgarian fighters such as Aleksandar Petrov, Vladislav Valev, and others were part of this tremendous session.

The 3x Heavyweight Champ Peter Aerts took on the “young blood” in the morning with some of the most talented up-and-coming fighters. He was helped by his daughter Montana Aerts who made her debut in the ring of SENSHI this summer. In his typical style Aerts worked on dodging punches, footwork and knockout combinations. In the afternoon he switched with Semmy Schilt and started working with the more experienced practitioners and trainers. Aerts demonstrated fine details about low kicks- how and when to use them and combinations with killer low kicks.

His “colleague” and former K-1 opponent from the past Ernesto Hoost was the one that engaged with the pro fighters in the morning. Among them there were some stars that already shined in the ring of SENSHI like Sergey Braun, Nikolay Yorgov, Kristiyan Doychev and others. The topic of the training session was blocks, counters and clinch game. In the afternoon he worked with the youngsters who were happy and eager to learn from such legend. He pleased them by showing some of his favourite and battle-tested techniques. Each and every participant worked on the combinations hard and did atleast 10 reps of each.

The training sessions will continue until Sunday (11.09) Today there will be a third session in SENSHI GYM with starting hour 6:30 PM.
