Romania’s Florin Lambagiu will surely remember his SENSHI debut. The national sambo champion of Romania defeated Russia’s Andrei Chekhonin in the main event of SENSHI 9.
The clash was conducted under the KWU Full Contact rules in the -85 kg category with kickboxing legend Semmy Schilt being the special guest referee.
The difference in the fighting styles was on point right from the get-go, with Chekhonin starting with some nice low kicks while “Rambo” was targeting the upper body with his punches.
Lambagiu was landing at will throughout the whole fight, throwing some heavy punches to the head and the body of his opponent. Chekhonin, on the other hand, was eating everything and was answering with an inside low kick combined with some good jabs.
The fight was pretty close and it was well deserving of the main event – both guys showing a lot of heart and courage. Chekhonin demonstrated that his chin is pretty much made of iron, while the debutant was barely walking from all those strikes to his legs.
The judges ruled an additional round in which Lombagiu managed to land the cleaner and better shots and in the end, he got the W.
