Inoue – Donaire unification rematch set for the summer

The highly anticipated rematch between two of the very best pound for pound fighters in today’s boxing is finally set.

Japan’s Naoya Inoue will be facing Philippines’ Nonito Donaire in a three-belt unification bantamweight fight. The bout is scheduled for June 7 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, the same place the initial bout was held

Inoue is the current champion of WBA and IBF, while Donaire hold the WBC belt.

The first fight between “The Monster” and “The Filipino Flash” was held in 2019 and it was by far one of the greatest boxing bouts in recent times. “The Ring” magazine voted the clash “Fight of the Year”.

The younger champion came out victorious in the first fight, but Donaire was all over Inoue, landing at will and skill.

The fight has been in the making for several months, and with the intention to return to the site of their terrific November 2019 encounter.
