Israel Adesanya – Robert Whittaker 2 pushed back until 2022

The highly anticipated UFC middleweight championship rematch between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker will reportedly be pushed back for next year, according to Whittaker’s manager Titus Day.

Initially, there were reports that the rematch between those two will be taking place this fall probably at UFC 268 in New York, but now the chances of this happening are slim to none.

“Rob had been told he would be fighting at Madison Square Garden,” Day said. “But there have been some issues since and it can’t happen. Apparently, Adesanya could get into America for the fight, but he wouldn’t have been able to get back to New Zealand immediately afterwards due to travel restrictions.

“So while we know the fight is going to happen, it’s now become a matter of when. Unfortunately, given everything going on with COVID in Australia and New Zealand at the moment, it may not be until early next year.”

“The Last Stylebender” and “Bobby Knuckles”fought for the first time back in 2019 when Adesanya got the W via KO in the second round. Since then, the middleweight champ defended his belt successfully three times.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old New Zealand-born Australian, has been on a three-fight winning streak.
