Jim Miller vs. UFC newcomer Nikolas Motta targeted for September bout

One of the UFC’s most experienced veterans will be taking on an octagon rookie this fall.

A lightweight bout between Jim Miller and Nikolas Motta has been targeted for the UFC’s Sept. 18 fight card at a to-be-determined location. MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin and Guilherme Cruz confirmed the news Thursday following an initial report by MMA Junkie.

Miller (32-16) is currently tied for the most bouts in UFC history with 37. The 37-year-old has fallen on hard times of late, dropping three of his last four fights including back-to-back losses at the hands of Vinc Pichel and Joe Solecki in his last two appearances. Prior to that, Miller scored consecutive first-round stoppages over Clay Guida and Jason Gonzalez.

Motta (12-3) enters the UFC fresh off a decision win over Joseph Lowry last November under the Contender Series banner. The 28-year-old has won five of his last six bouts, and notably beat Solecki via third-round knockout on at regional event in 2018.
