Julia Budd still the champ after 1st round TKO, Bellator 224 results

Bellator Women’s Featherweight world champion Julia Budd (13-2) made her third successful title defense yesterday in the main event of Bellator 224.

The Canadian TKO’d Olga Rubin (6-1) in the first round, handing the challenger her first pro loss in MMA. Rubin looked to press right from the beginning, but the champ remained calm and collective and her counter-attacks were fabulous. In the middle of the opening round, “The Jewel” eventually landed a body kick that rocked Rubin and forced her back and down. Budd overwhelmed her opponent with strikes until the referee waved off the bout.
