Kristiyan Doychev is Bulgaria’s best athlete in combat sports

Kristiyan Doychev was honored with two prizes from the  second annual awards of the Bulgarian Martial Arts Association.

One of them is the Golden Belt for “Best Athlete – Man” 2019.

The glamorous ceremony took place on December 15 (Sunday) at the Sofia Event Center. Doychev won silver medal at the Karate Kyokushin World Championship in Kazakhstan just a few days ago.

The event was attended by the chairman of the Bulgarian Martial Arts Association – Shihan Ivo Kamenov, and by the chairman of the Bulgarian karate kyokushin federation Shihan Marin Mitev.

Kristiyan was also honored as the athlete of the year by the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation. The award was presented by Shihan Asen Asenov, who is part of the management of BKKF, and is the first Bulgarian golden medalist from European Karate Kyokushin Championship.

“I would like to thank the Bulgarian Martial Arts Association and the Bulgarian kyokushin federation for this event. I am glad that my work is being recognised. We proved that the Bulgarian fighters are world class, once again”, said Doichev.

The 23-year-old Kristiyan Doychev sends his most successful year in sports. In 2019 he won the European Championship in Portugal and also won a professional kyokushin fight against Hammi Zandy by unanimous decision.
