New dates for European Judo Championships confirmed

The European Judo Union has confirmed the new dates for the 2020 European Judo Championships, with the event to remain as part of the Tokyo 2020 qualification process.

The competition will take place in Prague, Czech Republic, between November 8 and 10 at the Czech capital’s O2 Arena.

The dates were announced in April, but now they were officially approved following negotiations between EJU and the venue.

Initially, the event was scheduled for May 1 and 3 but was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.  The last time Prague hosted the euros was back in 1991.

It has also been confirmed that the 2020 Veteran European Judo Championships will not be stripped from Athens. The Greek capital city was due to play host between May 21 and 24, with the Greek Judo Federation now carrying over the rights to the event to 2021.
