Paddy Pimblett Recovers and Aims for Another Fight This Summer

British fighter Paddy Pimblett revealed that he avoided a serious injury during his fight against Justin Gaethje on January 24 for the UFC interim lightweight title. Despite losing by unanimous decision, Pimblett is ready to resume training and plans to fight again this summer.

“I’m fine,” Pimblett said in a social media video. “The only thing wrong is a scratched cornea or something like that, but tomorrow I’ll be back in the gym. People think I need to rest until the end of the year, but that’s not the plan. I’ll be fighting this summer.”

Pimblett admitted that he was not satisfied with his performance but gave full credit to Gaethje and hopes they can have a rematch:

“I said before the fight that I wanted the best version of Justin Gaethje, and I got it. I hope he wins the title from Ilia [Topuria] and that we can fight again because I made a number of mistakes in this fight.”

The British fighter is motivated to come back stronger and face Gaethje again in the future.
