Petr Yan is out for a few months

The UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan will be absent from the Octagon for the next few months after undergoing lower back surgery. The news was reported by the fighter’s team to the Russian news agency TASS.

Yan’s last fight took place on December 7, when he defeated Georgian fighter Merab Dvalishvili and reclaimed the championship belt in the division.

“Petr underwent lower back surgery that had been bothering him even during his last fight. The recovery will take several months,” the source told the agency. “He is expected to be ready for a new bout with Dvalishvili in July or August.”
