Purevdorj suspended after Anti-Doping violation at Asian Games

United World Wrestling has suspended freestyle wrestler Orkhon Purevdorj (MGL) following a violation of the organization’s anti-doping policy during the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. UWW’s decision was confirmed by CAS following an appeal filed by the athlete.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) issued the test on August 20, 2018, and had it processed through a WADA-accredited laboratory in Doha. The OCA disqualified the athlete’s results before forwarding the file to UWW for the issuance of consequences beyond disqualification of the results.

Purevdorj’s test indicated the presence of Stanozolol and its metabolite which are Exogenous Anabolic-Androgenic Steroid under class S1.1A of the 2018 Prohibited List and is prohibited at all times (in and out-of-competition).

A suspension of four years was imposed and will run until 16 September 2022.

Purevdorj’s gold medal in women’s wrestling at 62kg was also be forfeited. The updated medal standings are as follows:

GOLD: Aisuluu Tynybekova (KGZ)
SILVER: Risako KAWAI (JPN)
BRONZE: Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Hạnh (VIE)
BRONZE: Rim Jong-sim (PRK)
