Reports: Junior dos Santos out of UFC Moscow

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos (21-6) is out of his upcoming scheduled fight against Alexander Volkov (30-7).

The two were supposed to headline the UFC Fight Night 163 in Moscow on November 9, but “Cigano” has been hospitalized because of a serious bacterial infection, US sources are reporting.

Reports are stating that the 35-year-old Brazilian has been dealing with a bacterial infection in his leg and is in hospital for over a week. dos Santos underwent two procedures – one to introduce a drain and then another to remove it.

UFC is yet to comment on the situation, as there is still no clue who could replace dos Santos against Volkov. The Russian hasn’t fought since last October at UFC 229 when Derrick Lewis KO’d him in the third round.
