Demian Maia and Belal Muhammad will face off in a welterweight fight at June 12’s UFC 263.
The news was first reported by ESPN.
The bout joins a card that includes a flyweight title rematch between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno. A location and venue for the event have not yet been announced.
Maia last fought in March 2020, where he lost in the first round to a TKO from Gilbert Burns. Prior to that, though, he was on a three-fight winning streak that included two submissions, including a choke against Ben Askren. Maia is a jiu-jitsu specialist, with a 2007 win at ADCC and half of his 28 pro MMA victories coming by way of submission.
Muhammad most recently had his fight against Leon Edwards stopped after an accidental eye poke left him unable to continue. The fight was ruled a no-contest. Muhammad had previously been on a four-fight winning streak, with his most recent win taking place against Dhiego Lima at February’s UFC 258.
