Tonny Bellew believes Usyk can’t handle Fury and Joshua

Former two-division world champion Tony Bellew made an interesting comment about his final adversary in the ring – Oleksandr Usyk.

The Brit got Ko’d by Usyk back in 2018 when the pair met in Manchester with Usyk undisputed cruiserweight championship on the line. The fight was also Usyk’s last dance in the cruiserweight division before he moved up to the big boys league.

In 2019 the Ukrainian made his heavyweight debut, defeating Chazz Whitherspoon, securing himself a WBO mandatory shot against Anthony Joshua.

Although the Scouser believes Usyk will have success in the heavyweight division, the Brit said he’s not sure if Usyk can handle the current world champion Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

“Usyk is a brilliant fighter,” Bellew told Colin Murray’s 52 podcast.

“People always ask me ‘how will he do as a heavyweight’ so let’s just get down to it. I think he will beat every single heavyweight out there besides two and they are the big boys.

“I don’t think he is big enough to beat AJ and I don’t think he is big enough to beat Tyson Fury. The only thing that can beat him is size. Don’t get me wrong, when he fights AJ I think he’ll be ahead, but then I think AJ will get to him and work him down and gradually he will get there. When it comes to Tyson Fury, he just won’t be allowed to get close enough. Fury is that big.”
