UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has been engaged with a heated rivalry with Tony Ferguson for some years.
But following the devastating loss “El Cucuy” suffered at UFC 249 by the hands and kicks of Justin Gaethje, the current lightweight king put aside their differences and send the American a message of support.
Initially, the pair was supposed to meet at UFC 249 on April 18 in New York, but the event got canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. It was the fifth time those two were scheduled to meet inside the Octagon and just like the previous four times, this was postponed again.
Following the clash between Gaethje and Ferguson, Nurmagomedov put past grudges behind him and offered words of support to Tony in the wake of his defeat at UFC 249.
Whatever happened is in the past. Heads up Tony, I hope everything is good with you and your family. When your son grow up, he’ll be proud with you. @TonyFergusonXT

The possibility of a fight between Khabib and Tony is pretty small, as Justin Gaethje is the top challenger now for the lightweight crown of Nurmagomedov.
