British top boxing promoter Frank Warren has announced that the highly anticipated bout between undefeated Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce will be postponed again due to the coronavirus.
The new targeted time table is September, but there is no precise date for now.
The two brits had to face each other on April 11 in London, but the coronavirus outbreak made it impossible for the event to take place. Then the clash was moved for July 11, but with fights not allowed a live audience until later in the year, boxing promoter Warren has decided to push the date back until autumn.
“We’re moving the Daniel Dubois show – Dubois and Joy Joyce fight – we have to move that back to September or October,’ Warren told Seconds Out.
“Because there’s no way it’s going to go on in July in front of a live audience. We haven’t got the exact date yet, we’re negotiating and trying to work a date out with the O2 so we can get the fight on.
“The fight, as we know, is contracted, we announced it, we had the press conferences. So that is a bit of shame, that will be postponed, but I don’t want to put that show on behind closed doors. We want to get it on in front of a live audience.’
