Former world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk retires

The former world light-heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk has retired, his manager announced earlier today.

Egis Klimas reported the news, wishing his ex-client all the best.

The Ukrainian fighter, 33, won the WBC championship in December 2018, defeating Adonis Stevenson. His first defense of the belt again Doudou Ngumbu was successful, but then Artur Beterbiev took the strap from him, knocking him out in the 10th round.

Gvozdyk’s pro record is 17-1, as he made his debut back in 2014. He also captured a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.
